My somewhat ridiculous attempt to paraphrase Roald Dahl….
The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me: illustration Quentin Blake
Anyway, my excuse for the awkwardness of these photos is that they show me trying to hug a giraffe ( her name was Laura), which apparently is only possible if you are feeding her simultaneously. This in itself is quite a feat. You are also able to “kiss” her, if you hold a treat in your mouth and let her take it from you… I decided to give this a miss..my hand and camera were already covered in giraffe saliva, and the thought of getting any more intimate did not appeal.
I was at the Giraffe Centre in Nairobi, which was set up for the preservation of the Rothschild Giraffe.
Oddly enough, I was reading Gala Darling this afternoon, and she was doing something similar at the Wellington Zoo!
Wearing Dotti tulle and velvet dress, Valley Girl crochet top, vintage leather jacket, Converse shoes, Cotton On sunnies, Vintage snakeskin bag, Karen Walker Skull Ring (Thank you Ange and Holls, it was an amazing going away gift!), greenstone ring and earrings from a market here in Nairobi.
Laura, casually hanging out by herself.
From here, I headed to Karen Blixen’s House, apparently Out of Africa was filmed on a different farm nearby though.
Until next time, T
